GSBAS KIDS KORNER
GSBAS Young Birders Group

Attention Parents and Junior Birders!
GSBAS hosts a young birders group on the first Sunday of each month during our normal tour hours from 1 to 3 pm at Brookside. We will walk the grounds and monitor the bird feeders, discussing all of the birds we see and hear as well as noting their habits in the natural surroundings. Other activities will include reviewing guide materials in GSBAS’s library and recording the species observed in a log book just for our young birders group.

Our target group is 3rd to 6th grade students, but we welcome all students who are interested in joining us. GSBAS has guide books and binoculars to share with the junior birders.

It is recommended that the students bring a sketchbook/notebook and coloring pencils, as we might have a chance to sketch birds we observe. A camera is always nice to have if you would like to bring one along. Please wear comfortable shoes – sneakers or hiking boots are great!

If you have any questions, please email Juliane Wohler at gsbas@verizon.net.

We look forward to seeing you!!!

Play the Mission: Migration Game on the Audubon New York website.

In the spring and the fall, many birds fly long distances in search of food, water, shelter and space: the same basic things that you need to survive. Along these routes, they encounter many different types of habitats, from country and forest to neighborhoods and big cities, and at times, encounter dangers from both natural and manmade hazards.

In this game you will try to help your flock migrate safely by learning how choices you make each and every day around your home, school, and neighborhood can affect the fate of these migrating birds - in both positive and negative ways. By the time you're done, you'll have the skills and knowledge to help birds thrive and survive around your home.
