LOUISE TITUS MEMORIAL MID-WEEK TUESDAY FIELD TRIPS
• September 7th - Cow Meadow & Oceanside Environmental Center - 9:00 a.m. Oceanside first - Meadowbrook Pkwy Exit M9 to Merrick Rd westbound. Turn left at the first traffic light onto Mill Rd. At the end of Mill Rd, turn left onto South Main Street, then right at the second traffic light onto Atlantic Ave. Stay on Atlantic for approx 2.5 miles, then bear left onto Waukena Ave. At the first traffic light past the country club entrance, turn left onto Park Ave. Just before the end of Park Ave, turn left onto Golf Drive, then make the second right onto Slice Drive and proceed to the preserve parking lot.
• September 14th - Shinnecock Bay - 9:30 a.m. Sunrise Hwy east to Exit 65s to Montauk Hwy. Go east and follow signs to Ocean Beaches. Cross Ponquogue Bridge and turn left at traffic light. Go to end to parking lot at inlet.
• September 21st - Jamaica Bay - 9:30 a.m. Southern State to Belt Pkwy to Exit 17, Cross Bay Blvd South. Continue south for about 2 miles and look for refuge sign on right. Suggest you bring lunch and change of footwear.
• September 28th - Massapequa Preserve - 9:30 a.m.  Take Southern State Pkwy to Exit 30 (Broadway South) to Baltimore Avenue and turn left - then 2 blocks to Parkside Blvd.  Park on street opposite school.
• October 5th - Robert Moses State Park and Fire Island Lighthouse - 9:00 a.m.  Meet in Robert Moses Parking Lot 5 - northeast corner.  This trip is in conjunction with the Fire Island Lighthouse Preservation Society.
• October 12th - Avalon Sanctuary - 9:30 a.m.  Route 25A to Village of Stony Brook - at Carriage Museum 25A turns right - do not turn right, but proceed straight ahead on Main St to Harbor Rd and park in legal spots by the Grist Mill or on Main St.
• October 19th - Jamaica Bay - 9:30 a.m.  See directions Sept. 21st.
• October 26th - Blydenburgh County Park - 9:30 a.m.  Entrance on Veterans Hwy, just west of Route 347 merge.  Use Blydenburgh entrance, not Green Gate entrance.
• November 2nd - Sunken Meadow - 9:30 a.m.  Meet in the northwest corner of the main parking lot.
• November 9th - Jones Beach West End & Point Lookout - 9:30 a.m.  Meet in parking lot near Coast Guard.
Note: All mid-week field trips start at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon unless otherwise noted. Please see Hagstrom maps or Google Maps to confirm directions. We no longer schedule car pooling, but it is encouraged. If participants wish to car pool, arrangements should be made between themselves. WEEKEND FIELD TRIPS

• July 10th - Cornell University's Open House. - 10:00 a.m. No leader required - Just come and enjoy a great day - tours and demonstrations. Cornell University - Long Island Horticultural Research & Extension Center, 3059 Sound Avenue, Riverhead, NY
• August 14th - Hummingbird Sanctuary - 9:30 a.m. Leader: Alice Heller - Cell # 631-827-6561. For directions to the Sanctuary go to www.lihummer.org one week prior to the trip and read and please comply with the relevant material posted thereon. In addition Alice MUST be telephoned for a reservation and instructions regarding car pooling that will be necessary as there are limited parking spaces. Carpooling arrangements should be made between members themselves and Alice should be notified of these arrangements to ensure adequate parking.
• September 5th - Jamaica Bay - 8:00 a.m. Leaders: John Gluth - 277-9298 & Steve D'Amato - 516-454-7861. Southern State to Belt Pkwy to Exit 17 Cross Bay Blvd South. Continue south for about 2 miles and look for refuge sign on right. Suggest you bring lunch and change of footwear.
• September 18th - Connetquot - GSBAS & Friends of Connetquot Breakfast & Birding - 8:00 a.m. Leaders: Alice Heller - cell # 631-827-6561, Steve D'Amato - 516-454-7861, & Nicholas Laviola - 678-7866. RSVP required - call Alice to register. Registration fee $4.00. Meet in the main house at Connetquot Preserve - first for breakfast & bird slides - then head out to find the birds.
• September 19th - Fire Island Hawk Watch and Jones Beach - 7:00 a.m. Leaders: John Gluth - 277-9298, Steve D'Amato - 516-454-7861, Peter Murphy - 666-2507, & Nicholas Laviola - 678-7866. Meet in Robert Moses Parking Field 5 - northeast corner.
• September 24th - Gardiner Park Owl Watch - 7:00 p.m.  Leaders: Bob Grover - 669-4365, Alice Heller - cell # 631-827-6561, Steve D'Amato - 516-454-7861.  Meet in Gardiner County Park.  Directions: entrance to Park is on south side of Montauk Hwy (27A).  From west, entrance is approximately 1/2 mile past Robert Moses Causeway.  From east, entrance is approximately 1 mile past Brightwaters Canal.  Bring flashlights.
• October 8th, 9th and 10th - Brigatine and Cape May.  Leaders: Peter Murphy - 666-2507, Steve D'Amato - 516-454-7861, Nicholas Laviola - 678-7866.  Meet at Brigatine (Edwin Forsythe NWR) parking lot 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.  Directions: Verrazano to Outerbridge and take Garden State Pkwy south to Exit 48 toward Port Republic/Smithville/Oceanville - Route 9.  Look for signs to refuge (turn left).  If going directly to Cape May, continue on Garden State to end.  We will meet at Higbee Beach Wildlife Management Area at end of New England Road on Saturday at 6:00 a.m.  Motels: Jersey Cape (609-884-7382), West Cape Motel (609-884-4280).
• November 7th - Wertheim NWR. - 8:00 a.m.  Leaders: John Gluth - 277-9298, Bob Grover - 669-4365, Alice Heller - cell # 631-827-6561.  From intersection of Montauk Hwy (27A) and William Floyd in Shirley, go west on Montauk 7/10 of a mile to traffic light at Smith Rd.  Turn left and go over RR tracks and make first right into Wertheim.  Signs are on both Montauk and Smith going into Wertheim.
