MID WEEK FIELD TRIPS
March 17th (Tuesday) - Jones Beach West End & Point Lookout - 9:30 a.m. Meet at the Coast Guard Station parking lot.
Note: All mid-week field trips start at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon unless otherwise noted. Please see Hagstrom maps to confirm directions. We no longer schedule car pooling, but it is encouraged. If participants wish to car pool, arrangements should be made between themselves. WEEKEND FIELD TRIPS

January 10th (Saturday) - Montauk Point 8:00 a.m. NOTE THE DATE CHANGE - THIS IS THE TRIP THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED FOR JANUARY 3rd. THERE WILL BE NO TRIP ON JANUARY 3rd. Leaders - John Gluth (277-9298), Bob Grover (669-4365). Meet at 8 a.m. in the Lighthouse parking lot. By arriving before 8 a.m., you don't have to pay the parking lot entrance fee.
February 1st (Sunday) - American Museum of Natural History. Leaders - Alice Heller (516-334-8035 x 116) & Peter ter Capainolo (212-313-7781). Meet inside the museum's lower level subway entrance at 12:45 p.m. We will be treated to an insiders look at the museum's famous Ornithology Department with a brief history show, different specimen preparation techniques, and the bird collections etc. The tour will last approximately 1 hour. There will be no fee to enter and see this tour; however, if attendees wish to visit other portions of the museum proper, they will have to pay an entrance fee ($15. adults, $11. seniors). There will be a limit on attendees - 15 is ideal, 20 is the limit, so you must call Judy Davis (277-5179) to be put on the reservation list. If driving - there is a pay parking lot below the museum (call 212-769-5200 for rates), or take the LIRR to Penn Station, then the 34th Street IND 8th Ave. Subway - local B or C - north to 81st Street stop. This is a chance to go behind the scenes and see the actual science of Ornithology at work.
February 7th (Saturday) - Jones Beach West End 8:00 a.m. Leader - Mike Cooper (821-2855). Meet in the parking lot by the Coast Guard Station.
March 7th (Saturday) - Bob Laskowski Memorial Duck Walk - Islip Ponds 8:00 a.m. Leaders - Bob Grover (669-4365) & Louise Titus (581-1492). Meet at 8 a.m. in the Brookwood Hall parking lot off Irish Lane in East Islip. The focus is on wintering ducks on local lakes.
March 13th (Friday) - Gardiner Park Owl/Woodcock Watch 6:30 p.m. Leaders - Bob Grover (669-4365), Alice Heller (516-334-8035 x 116) & Steve D'Amato (516-454-7861). Meet at 6:30 p.m., Gardiner County Park parking lot. Directions: entrance is on south side of Montauk Hwy. (27A). From west, entrance approximately 1/2 mile past Robert Moses Causeway. From east, approximately 1 mile past Brightwaters Canal.
